The Game Of Life
by John Viggiano

Life is but a game
One for someone else to play
The player fine-tunes environment and genetics
Creating her ultimate masterpiece
Better than the last batch
New and improved

Unseen forces manipulate the funiculi of marionettes
And accordingly they sway to and fro
Whilst an illusion of control captivates the psyche
"Ah, free will," exclaim the cat's-paws
'Tis a bounty to be devoutly wish'd!

The chimera
A gift bestowed upon mankind in the days of eld
Fuels a passion to attain new heights
The driving force behind his deeds
The foundation of dreams
And the sub-empyreal determiner of his wyrd

[by John Viggiano]

At Last
[Maynard Dixon, 1875-1946]

At last
I shall give myself to the desert again,
That I, in its golden dust,
May be blown from a barren peak,
Broadcast over the sun-lands.

If you should desire some news of me,
Go ask the little horned toad whose home is the dust,
Or seek it among the fragrant sage,
Or question the mountain juniper,
And, by their silence,
They will truly inform you.

[Maynard Dixon, Painter & Artist]
